Swimmin' Hole StoriesIn 1994 KNRC issued a request for "Swimmin' Hole" stories through local newspapers in Kansas. It was our original intent to gather these stories and, through oral interviews, create a video tape which investigated shifts or trends in the behavior of Kansans in terms of their relationships to the natural waters of the state. Staff changes caused us to forego our original intent and our grant from the Kansas Humanities Council to help with the project was returned. As the repository for these wonderful stories, we just couldn't give up on them ever seeing the light of day however. We have featured some in a "Swimmin' Hole" column in the Journal and also here on our website. We hope that our readers enjoy these stories as much as we do and that reading the stories causes you to consider the value you place on clean water in Kansas.Click on the hotlinks in the picture to jump into the Swimmin' Holes!
